Online Dating RSS/XML Feeds

What is RSS?

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) let's you view new information on websites. Let me explain. Let's say you have 20 websites that you like to visit regularly, the only way you can know if any of the sites has posted new info is if you actually visit the site. With RSS, you don't have to visit the websites to find out if they have updates.

Why does oasisoflove.com need RSS Feed?

Our rss feed helps you know when updates have occured on oasisoflove.com. We are still developing our feed to offer the ability for a user to monitor updates based on the user's criteria. Currently, the feed just shows newest profiles.

How does RSS work?

It's easy. RSS feeds are viewed with programs called RSS Readers. They let you subscribe to as many RSS feeds as you like. There are desktop, as well as web-based RSS Readers. Once you have subscribed to your favorite RSS feeds, you can then view all your subscriptions all on one page. At a glance, you can see which websites have changed since you last checked.

How do I subscribe to RSS Feeds?

  • Websites that provide RSS feeds usually have a button that says RSS or XML (By the way, XML or RSS are synonyms). The button is usually orange, but it could be any color. If you click on the button, you get the XML code. But the code is no good to you. What you really want is the url.

  • You get the address (URL) of the feed and paste it into your RSS Reader. To get the url, click on the button and copy the url from your browser's address bar.

  • Once you do that, the url would be copied to your clipboard. For example, the url of our rss feed is: http://www.oasisoflove.com/rss.xml, shown on the main page by rss feed of user profiles

  • Once you get the url, now you just need to paste it into your RSS Reader. Most web-based rss readers need you to sign up for an account. For example, if you already have a yahoo account, you just visit http://my.yahoo.com to add your feeds.

  • For a full list of rss readers, visit http://allrss.com/rssreaders.html

  • The next time you see another rss feed you're interested in, you simply get the url, and paste it into your rss reader. All your rss feeds can now be viewed on a single page. It'd be like viewing dozens of websites on a single page.
